Alexandre Beck (François Cluzet) is a doctor in the process of rebuilding his life after his wife Margot (Marie-Josée Croze) was brutally murdered by a serial killer. Eight years on from the tragic event he now finds himself implicated in a double homicide case which points to him as the killer, even though he has no knowledge of the crimes. The same day, his life takes another dramatic turn when he receives an e-mail that appears to be from his late wife. Now he must work to clear his name and discover the truth behind his wife's supposed death.
